Today, I received the proof of My Life with Laura: A Love Story in the mail, and it looked great!  I am very happy, and it feels good to see all of my efforts over the past year in book form.  I also received a Library of Congress control number, which I have added to [...]

My Life with Laura: A Love Story, a memoir, is now available from Lulu.  I have spent much of the past year writing this book, and I hope that it serves as a testament to my late wife Laura’s life and her tremendous strength in battling breast cancer.  As most of you know, she passed away [...]

A new Office of Advocacy study by Robert Fairlie, a professor at the University of California at Santa Cruz, shows that immigrant business owners make huge contributions to our economy.  Specifically, it finds that “immigrants are nearly 30 percent more likely to start a business than nonimmigrants, and they represent 16.7 percent of all new business owners.”  In [...]

Exports are an Opportunity for Small Businesses

Today, the SBA Office of Advocacy releases an update to the Quarterly Indicators: The Economy and Small Business for the third quarter of 2008, which I write.  One of the few bright spots in the economy right now are exports, which were up an annualized 5.9 percent in the third quarter.  Imports, meanwhile fell 1.9 [...]

New Sally Brewer Pictures!

Over the weekend, our friend Sally Brewer took our picture in Old Town Alexandria on a chilly, fall Saturday morning.  All of the pictures are terrific, and Charlotte is so photogenic.  Sally has posted these pictures on her blog, for those of you who are interested.  Also, to see more of them, you can check [...]
