My Memoir
My Life with Laura: A Love Story, a memoir, is now available from Lulu. I have spent much of the past year writing this book, and I hope that it serves as a testament to my late wife Laura’s life and her tremendous strength in battling breast cancer. As most of you know, she passed away on November 13, 2007. Special thanks to my friends and colleagues, Rebecca Krafft and Rob Kleinsteuber, who helped with editing and cover design. Check back on this page for updates on the book and the public reaction to it.
Some of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Laura Moutray Fund for Women’s Ministries at the First Baptist Church of Alexandria. Additional donations will also be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.

Chad, I’m glad you were able to verbalize your feelings and affection for Laura during this past year. It takes some courage to open up your emotions and share them with people who care about you. As you know I lost my wife in 2005 and thought I would never be joyful again, but God is good and allows us to heal to live a productive life in our remaining days.
Congratulations on this magnificent milestone!
Best Wishes, Harold
Chad I learned of your memoir thru a post in the TNBCFoundation forum and I wanted to express my condolences to you and your daughter.
Because of what you have done she will always be able to remember her mother.
Bless you both,
Chad,
Fight Pink is honored to be a part of your Blog Book Tour, and we look forward to showcasing your amazing story on our site on January 12, 2009.
Thank you for your courage, and strength.
Best,
Stacy

“My Life with Laura” is one of those rare books that chronicles truly intimate details of what it takes to have love, marriage, birth and death with one that you love.
If anyone out there could get this in front of the media or Oprah type program, please do so.
Kids, husbands, wifes, mothers, daughters, brothers and sisters as well as great friends and work colleagues would all relate to this story.
This is not kitschy, it is real.
Charlotte is blessed with a great Dad.
Chad, I know you only by reputation and the occasional e-mail in the small business world, and was stunned to come across this blog. I am so sorry to learn of your loss.
My husband (married in Sept 2008) is a widower who supported me through breast cancer treatment beginning in January 2008. We just gritted our teeth and are still recovering our bearings.
Your book will help me more deeply see this experience from the point of view of a loving husband. I am so grateful to you for writing it.
Your daughter is so beautiful, and looks so much like your wife. What a delight she must be. My husband has four children, and the girls are so like their mother that I feel like I know her too.
With all good wishes for both your and your daughter, for much happiness and joy,
Susan Kuhn Frost
Chad, what a great way to honour your love. We usually fail to realize how blessed we are.
I look over the computer screen to watch my daughter and her baby, and reading about your story puts our lives in a different context. I almost lost my daughter 4 yrs ago.
We don’t know what lies ahead for us, thanks for reminding us the power of now. Life is a miracle. We are the miracles.
with admiration,
Alicia
I just wanted to say that I took a moment yesterday on Mother’s Day to think of all young families that have lost a mother prematurely and yours was definitely one I thought about.
Chad,
I don’t know why you came into my thoughts today, but you did, so I googled you and I came upon this website. What a profound experience – I can understand having done this with two parents and a brother, but enough of that. She was beautiful, your Laura. I am so glad you found such a great love. You were one of the sweetest people I ever met, working with you was always a joy. Funny where life leads us. I heard you had become an economist and always knew you were up for bigger and better things than RMC. Love your daughter and watch life through her eyes as well as guide her well, which I am sure you will do. You did a fabulous thing by writing your life with her mother. I take my hat off to you and wish you and your daughter a wonderful, adventurous, life full of learning .
